When signing up for Medicare, people quickly find out there is no Dental insurance coverage with Medicare.
So, what dental insurance options are available? Unfortunately, there is not a good dental insurance option. One major association provides two dental insurance plans, but we do not believe these are a good value for the cost of the premium. See more details here. The best option available is actually not insurance, but rather a discount program called Vital Savings, which is offered by Aetna. This program has a minimal annual fee ($75 for individual or $105 for a family/couple), and provides 15-50% discounts on dental services at dentists in the Aetna network (130,000+ dentists). Light users will generally see the payback for the annual fee, and those having major dental work will definitely see significant payback from the savings program.
